Ready to Hatch

We've arrived. We are on the count down to bringing a baby girl home in about 2 weeks give or take. Now, I am not going to say that the experience has been completely glorious however its been an amazing process to be a part of and I'm happy to be here. As I've blossomed into the large and in charge part of the pregnancy I've noticed that not only is there a lot of attention given to my protruding belly but some find no problem saying anything that comes to mind when they see me. The latest and greatest was "whoa, your still here, is that baby going to just walk out" um thank you I appreciate that. And how about, "you know maybe you ought to watch your carbs and go for a walk" excuse me isn't it a little late for that? I will not name names on the previous offenders but a little word to the wise, keep your mouth shut or tell her she looks beautiful. O.K. now I'm off to nest.

A Tribute To Logan B

It seems unfathomable to think that our Logan has turned 5 years old this day August 25, 2008. I remember the night he was born and how excited we were to have a little boy. After almost two full days of labor Logan Brion Webb was born Monday at 1 in the morning. It was such a spiritual, emotional, exciting, and draining moment for me. I waited till I got home later that day to shed any tears but I was so grateful the he was here and that he was healthy. I have to say that was the day my wife became my hero.
I too can't believe that our Logan is turning 5 today. I think I got a glimpse of what we were in for when we went to our 20 week ultra sound and found out that we would be welcoming a little blue bundle into our home in just a few short months. As I saw that little guy kicking his legs and moving around I had this somewhat overwhelming sense of responsibility and thought I just want him to make good choices and be happy. Since then logan has been nothing but a joy. Those of you who know Logan know what I mean when I say that Logan eats, sleeps, and breaths energy and excitement and happiness. A few words I would use to describe Logan would be adventurous, inquisitive, and funny.
Adventurous: Logan is always pushing the limit of his abilities. When he was four he wanted to go golfing with me. I rarely go golfing now when he doesn't come with me. He wanted to go duck hunting last year with Clint and I. So we dressed him up in some camo and he hiked thru the swamp and sat all day with us hunting. He didn't even think twice about jumping off the top of the piano the first time or the diving board at the pool. He has a shirt that reads "I do my own stunts". This is a true statement when it comes to Logan. When he was two he broke his arm flipping on our bed. In gymnastics he was the first in his class to do a flip (he is one of the youngest in his class). In June of this year he decided he wanted to learn to ride his bike. We took one lap around the street and I let go and he never looked back. A month later he wanted to go off the jump the big boys (10-12 year olds) were jumping and so he did. The next week he tried riding with no hands, that one didn't turn out so well but in all his crashes he has never once cried. He has asked for a band aid though.
Inquisitive: Not very many days go by when Logan doesn't ask what does (fill in the blank) mean. How does that work etc. He took apart my Kitchen Aid mixer when he was two. Frankly it was pretty impressive to me, not being mechanically inclined at all. He inherited that one from his Dad. One time we were in the car talking about how buildings were constructed and put together after discussing this Logan said "Oh, and how are people built"? I think our answer was age appropriate but I have to say I was taken a little off guard being that he was only 2/1/2. You just never know what is going to come your way with these little people.
Funny: One time while on a trip to home depot with Brion as they were looking around there was a rather large man in the isle with them. Logan says to the guy "Hey big fella" then turns to Brion with a little giggle and says "Thats on Cars" Luckily the guy wasn't one to take offense and he smiled.
So Little guy a big happy birthday to you!

Webb Family Vacation

I said that I would let Amie take over on the blogging thing but as hard as it is for me to admit, I enjoyed doing the last blog. There, I've said it, now let's move on.

So the entire Nick and Miriam Webb family minus Spencer, Brett,
Daisy and Dixie went to Island Park, Idaho last week. We stayed in a sweet cabin that slept 25. Scott and Lacey brought a Rhino 660 that we rode around on. The kids loved riding around the cabins in the back. Scott also brought his archery bow and we tried to sight that in but I think we made it worse. Jarom and Adrien brought a boat that we wake boarded behind on the lake. I am a novice at it but did do a little jumping which was fun. Not bad for my third time wake boarding.

The kids had a good time in the boat and on the docks as you can see.

We went to see Old Faithful and had lunch at the lodge. Logan and Landon were not as impressed with Old Faithful as Amie and I were but I think they had fun. I took the boys to see
the hot pots and left Amie in the shade at the lodge with her feet up, holding an ice cream cone. She made some friends (Marilynn and her daughter) while we were gone for an entire hour.  They got so close in that time that when they left they all hugged and Marilynn said she would pray for Amie and the baby.  They were from the south and I think that is how older people from the south are.

So we get on the board walk to the hot pots and I tell the boys that it is illegal to step off the path and if they do and get caught they will be kicked out of the park. I said this to keep them
from jumping into one of the hot pots. This comes back to bite me because I had to step off it to get a picture of them watching Old Faithful erupting. Of Course Logan says "Dad you're being illegal" and gets mad because he thinks "they" are going to come get us and kick us out of the park. He caught me. What was I to do? I told him that I was sorry and that I shouldn't have gone off the path and that if I saw a park ranger on the way back I would turn my self in. He said "No Dad, maybe we should keep this to ourselves so we can stay in the park." I thought to myself "What am I teaching my kids?" It was a bad parenting moment. Anyway we kept it to ourselves and continued to enjoy the park. We saw a buffalo, a Bald Eagle and I so wanted to go fly fishing but it wasn't meant to be. May be on another trip up there.

We went to the Playmill theater to see "Oklahoma" and I can't deny that I really enjoyed it. Hey I've already admitted to liking to blog so in comparison liking a play is really nothing. The actor's did a good job and made the play quite funny.

We took the kids to Bear world and watched these giant grizzlies pick up and move big logs and boulders to find their dinner. They also had a pack of wolves that were running around their cage too. I felt bad that they weren't out in the wild but they were fun to see close up which you can't get in the wild unless they are trying to eat you.

I think one of the funnest part of the trip was playing a card game called Nert's at night after the kids went to bed. We all get along and play well together. Ladder ball was a hit as we had some good clean competition with that.  I must say that I'm an incredible Ladder Baller!

All in all it was a great trip and we all had a great time. It was nice to get home after a week of being gone. Both Amie and I agree that it is fun to go have adventures but it is equally as fun to get home. If that makes us home bodies then that is what we are. We love being home. Home is where the heart is.  As a famous song writer once wrote "Country roads take me home to the place I belong.  Saratoga, Lake Mountain, country roads take me home."  Or something like that.

While we were gone the sunflowers bloomed, the weeds took over the sub par garden, and the
spider decided to invite all of their spider friend's to the house.  As an update on that Terminix is coming the first of next week to take care of business.  So those of you who have been keeping your distance, feel free to come by after Wednesday.

Arachnophobia!

We had hoped that our first blog post would be something exciting, something spectacular, something special. It turns out it is none of the above. It is however frightening. This big guy is one of hundreds of spiders that have moved into our yard. This is a giant sunflower head that he is crawling on just to give you some perspective as to how big he really is. We canceled the exterminators visits and now we are the haunted house on the corner. People have stopped visiting us. At first we didn't know why. Then I walked out the front door and straight into a spider's web. I'm glad it was early and our neighborhood was quiet because someone would have gotten a good laugh at the dance I did to get the web off my face. They have yet to migrate in to the house which will not happen because the exterminator is coming back as soon as he can get here. Either that or I'm in the dog house with Daisy.

Now onto the family. This is Logan. He is 4 years old. He has a shirt that says "I do all my own stunts" and he does. He is not afraid of anything except Ghostbusters. We watched it at Jarom's house the other weekend and he did get a little scared of that (his mom thinks Ghostbuster's is a horror flick so we know where he gets it from). He has spent the summer riding his bike with out training wheels. I literally held onto the back seat of his bike one time up and down the lane and then let go and haven't held on since although I have wanted to. He also has been playing tee ball, going to gymnastics, helping me in the garden and torturing his little brother.

This is Landon. He is 2. He speaks in twelve word sentences! He loves our dog Daisy and think the sun is his. When his sun
goes to bed then he will go to bed. His mom can't wait for it to get darker earlier in the evening. Landon wants to do everything Logan does including the dangerous stuff like trying to leap buildings in a single bound (they are big into Superman and Spiderman), jump off the top of the piano, climb down into the window wells, and go off jumps on his trike. He also love to cuddle and give kisses. He is such a happy kid most of the time. I say most of the time because you don't want to be the one that wakes him up if he is not ready to be woken up. Beware. Other than that he usually has a smile on his face.

This is Amie, the love of my life, the reason I carry on. She is the CFO, head chef, manager of the cleaning crew (including dirty diapers), and conductor of the symphony of our lives. She takes care of the kids and house, runs them to practices, manages the finances (I tried to once and she looked over my shoulder the entire time so I let her have it back), keeps the place stocked with food, cooks, cleans, and takes care of the dog and so much more! I really don't know how she manages to do all of it in a day. I am truly in awe of her. She not only runs the house but she is also a small business owner of a cleaning company that cleans offices. All of this and she is expecting a baby girl in September. I know what you are thinking, "What does Brion do?" Frankly I am asking myself the same question. Everything about her is amazing.

Well here I am with my boys. I work for Okland Construction as a project manager. When I'm not at work, I am at home with the family. When I'm not at home I'm out hunting, fishing, or golfing. I am a novice gardener trying desperately to keep up with the thing of beauty Amie's dad has. There is a reason his garden is called the thing of beauty. Everything in there is big and beautiful and oh so tasty! I'll keep listening to the Green House Show and work at it. I am scared to death about having a little girl. I just got the raising little boys thing down, I think, and the good Lord sends us a girl. That doesn't mean I'm not excited, I'm just not used to little girls and I think it will be a much different experience than it has been with the boys. We are probably going to have the change the no crying rule and I'm trying to get used to the color pink. Those of you that have recently raised girls give me some advice. What am I in for? And that is me in a nut shell.

This is Daisy. She is 10 years old in dog years (1 1/2 in human years) and she is hopefully going to be my bird hunting buddy until the boys are old enough to join us. Basically she will do all the work and I will have all the fun.....that sounds oddly familiar. She is a smart dog who loves her family and loves to please and can't wait till I put up a fence around the yard so she can expand her domain.

Any way, that is us. We are officially members of the blogging world and we're lovin' it! This will probably be one of the few posts that I do on this thing but I thought I'd get us of the ground. I will hand the reins off to Amie for most of the rest of the blogging. She is much better at these types of things but I might sneak a few things in now and again.

The things that are most important are the things that last the longest. Take care.
